One Day in September...An Overview

The massacre of 11 Israeli Olympic team members at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany relates to diplomacy because of the lack of it.  When the Israeli athletes were first taken hostage one was immediately killed.  The Palestinians demanded the freeing of 234 Palestinians and non-Arabs that were prisoners-of war in Israel.  The Israeli government's answer was simple, no, there will be no negotiation.  The terrorists did not release the Israeli captives, eventually killing all the remaining Israeli team members that they had taken hostage. This event, like many other attempts at diplomacy and peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis, failed.
